The Challenge Ahead
Reporting to the Manager Finance Business Partnership – Potash, the Principal Finance Business Partnership plays a critical role in supporting the execution of the Jansen asset and shaping the broader strategy of BHP’s Potash business as we near operations.
This is a senior, strategic role that blends financial expertise with commercial insight. You will work closely with project and business leaders to identify value-maximizing opportunities, influence decision-making, and ensure financial discipline across one of the most significant mining developments in Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, engage, and manage a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders across the Jansen project and Potash business.
- Translate business objectives into actionable financial and strategic plans, monitoring progress and reporting on outcomes to support delivery of the Potash strategy.
- Apply a strong commercial mindset to influence optimal business outcomes and investment decisions.
- Build trusted relationships at both practitioner and senior leadership levels, influencing stakeholders with differing priorities and perspectives.
- Develop and coach Jansen project & operations workstreams to deliver value-enhancing outcomes in line with schedule and budget expectations.
- Develop and support risk mitigation strategies related to the execution of the Jansen asset and the growth of the Potash business.
- Support performance objectives tied to the successful execution of the Jansen project, the commencement of Jansen operations and the broader Potash portfolio.
- Champion BHP's commitments to diversity and inclusion, health and safety, environmental responsibility, and sustainable development.
What You'll Bring to the Role
- A minimum of 8 years’ experience in financial reporting or accounting roles.
- Proven ability to influence, solve complex problems, and proactively identify opportunities through deep business understanding.
- Major project experience and/or operational experience within the mining industry (preferred).
- Experience working with SAP systems, ideally 1SAP (preferred).
- A bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation (required).
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Work Location
This role is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, supporting BHP's Potash business and the Jansen Project. BHP supports hybrid working arrangements, combining office-based work with flexibility to work from home. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week.
