About the Role

Group Performance Systems and Standards supports teams to deliver performance uplift through BHP’s global improvement engine, including:

  • Maintaining and continuously improving BHP’s global improvement approach and system (Wave).
  • Supporting teams to leverage the global improvement approach and Wave to deliver in year cash pipelines and high value improvement programs, including through coaching and provision of technical expertise.
  • Providing regional and global insights and reporting.

 

The Principal Group Performance Systems and Standards – Minerals Americas supports Minerals Americas leaders and teams to deliver in year cash and high value improvement programs by providing coaching, sharing best practices, technical expertise and insights.

In this role, you will also be responsible for:

 

  • Coaching leaders and teams to define, develop and deliver continuous improvement programs to solve complex, high value problems and opportunities, applying deep understanding of continuous improvement best practices.
  • Guiding leaders, teams and Finance to value and prioritise improvement initiatives / programs and report improvement progress in line with business objectives, applying deep understanding of mining value chains, financial valuation methodologies and BHP’s improvement approach.
  • Developing reporting tools and insights to enable leaders and teams to monitor progress, identify risks and opportunities and drive results.
  • Leading structured problem solving and project management to evolve and continuously improve BHP’s global improvement engine, including identifying, evaluating and implementing process and system enhancements with effective change management.
  • Capturing and sharing internal and external best practices in continuous improvement and transformation, enhancing team capability and enabling consistent application of BHP’s approach.
  • Engaging and collaborating with a wide network of customers and stakeholders to identify and solve complex challenges and implement impactful change.

About You

 

To be a top performer you will need:

 

  • A degree in Commerce, Mining, Engineering, Law, Science or a related discipline.
  • A minimum 5 years experience in improvement / analysis / finance fields.
  • A comprehensive understanding of operational challenges and value drivers across mining value chains.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish.
  • A very high-level of autonomy, with the ability to work remotely from your Australia-based team and leader, primarily engaging directly with customers and stakeholders, with minimal support.
  • Expertise in applying structured problem solving to clearly define, align stakeholders and solve business, process and technical problems.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear and compelling insights and constructively challenge in structured presentations, meetings and adhoc discussions, including with senior leaders.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with a diverse range of senior stakeholders.
  • Financial acumen.
  • Comfort working with multiple priorities and ambiguity, maintaining focus and proactively delivering outcomes in dynamic environments.

 

Desirable:

  • Operational site-based mining experience.
  • Experience working with Wave.
