About Potash

BHP’s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP’s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP’s global portfolio. Jansen’s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.


An exciting role within the Potash HR Business Partner team that will support the business in the strategy of, and advisory on, HR matters as well as, prioritized HR project support for the business. This role will influence business success through deep analytic and reporting capabilities, strong project management capabilities, and deployment of programs that will enable a high performing, inclusive and diverse workforce, in line with BHP culture.

About the Role

In this role, you will:

  • Drive forward the HR activities to successfully prepare for future Jansen operations. The role will successfully plan, track the delivery of and manage programs of work within the HR operation readiness plan in support of the larger project
  • Design, develop and deliver people focused organisational frameworks and tools in line with HR principles to enable the development of culture and capability within BHP.  
  • Contribute to the deployment of programs, training and initiatives that contribute to a highly engaged workforce
  • Assess change impacts to prepare integrated change management plans, manages change readiness and resistance and coach leaders and impacted stakeholders in the adoption and successful delivery of the change. Make evidence based and strategic decisions in alignment with longer term business objectives
  • Prepare, manage and influence HR reports that are used at all levels of the business to drive and uplift business performance. Must have strong analytics and reporting capabilities in support of this work
  • Oversee the strategic workforce plan by ensuring it is updated and maintained inline with business needs and objectives
  • Conduct presentations and facilitate workshops using storytelling to connect, influence and engage the audience
  • Apply an understanding of the business context, BHP operating model and ways of working to enhance decision making, productivity and value chain performance
  • Determine the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving problems 
  • Identify, engage and manage a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Prioritise work effort and resources accordingly
  • Engage the capabilities of the entire organisation 
  • Strive to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste

About You

  • Undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary education institution, in a related field
  • Strong reporting and analytic capability
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and project management experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation is preferred
