About the Role
As the Principal HSE, your main purpose is to support the HSE assessment and assurance of third-party opportunities (TPO) within the Exploration portfolio.
Your expertise will be valuable in providing subject matter expertise during due diligence to identify risks to BHP, and ongoing assurance over key HSSE risks throughout partnerships to ensure they are being appropriately managed. The role supports, coaches and develops our partners to build capability in risk and HSSE management.
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE), your key deliverables include:
- Governs the development and maintenance of HSSE due diligence and assurance processes.
- Leads HSSE due diligence of, and assurance on third party opportunities
- Participates in routines with partners to provide technical assurance over the delivery of standards and approvals relevant to HSSE.
- Provides coaching and support to partners to build HSSE capability in partner organisations.
- Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
- Leverages deep subject matter expertise, knowledge of the business, industry and analytical capabilities to solve complex problems and opportunities relevant to HSSE.
- Monitors partner HSSE performance and control effectiveness to support capability building, and to identify risks to BHP.
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Demonstrated experience across Health, Safety or Environment discipline, preferably in the resources industry and inclusive of time at an operational level.
- Experience across multiple commodities and regulatory jurisdictions including exposure from working in global teams.
- Experience with joint venture partnership in exploration or resource sector.
- Experience in global role, or deliverable across muti-countries.
- Demonstrated ability to influence multiple levels within an organisation and stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in health, safety, environment, natural resources or a related discipline.
- Strong communication, engagement and influencing skills, with ability to adapt to suit target audience.
Location
We have flexibility for this role be based in BHP corporate offices located in Toronto or London and as appropriate to the successful applicant situation/preference and align with appropriate location’s full working rights. Regular site travel is also required.
