About the Role

 

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, as the Principal Haulage engineer for Saraji Mine you will be engaged in haulage planning and design. You will be accountable for driving the direction of haulage planning for the Saraji truck fleet ranging from monthly to budget level horizons. 

This role is offered as a flexible role based out of Brisbane with a 50/50 split of time spent in the Brisbane BHP office and onsite at Saraji Mine. The development opportunities available through a large organisation like BHP are second to none in the mining industry with structured development plans in place for all team members.

 

In this role you will:

 

  • Put safety above all else and strive to remove hazards;
  • Deliver haulage plans that meet business needs and requirements;
  • Mentor engineers in best practice;
  • Communicate model outcomes and your haulage vision/strategy to Production Coordinators and Operational teams;
  • Participate in the investigation of reported events for Production Planning;
  • Identify and implement Production Planning improvement initiatives;

About You

  • You will have a tertiary education background in Mining Engineering with previous experience working in operations. Your demonstrated experience working in mine planning teams (particularly planning and scheduling for truck and shovel) will see you succeed in this role.
  • You will have excellent communication skills, verbal and written along with your ability to influence stakeholders, providing sufficient communications to gain agreement and commitment. As well as a proven background working in complex environments to achieve results at an operations level.
  • A strong working knowledge of design tools (SPRY, Deswik, Vulcan) and Microsoft Office packages are desirable.
