About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Minerals Australia Projects (MAP), Health Safety & Security (HSS) Team in the role of Principal HSS supporting Copper South Australia (CuSA) Major Projects. Reporting to the Manager HSS CuSA Major Projects, this role will provide Health, Safety, and Security (HSS) functional support for the Smelter and Refinery Expansion (SRE) Project in study and execution phases.
This role will offer career challenge and development working with our senior stakeholders and leadership teams, supporting SRE with value-add HSS guidance and inputs to enable exceptional project HSS performance.
The role as a Principal HSS will provide leadership, coaching, and strategic direction as a subject matter expert to key stakeholders for the SRE Project.
The role is based in either Adelaide with occasional travel to Olympic Dam and to the EPCM office in Brisbane.
In this role successful application will focus on delivering:
- HSS input to the design and establishment of HSS standards, procedures and systems for CuSA Projects within the Minerals Australia Projects Framework.
- Build capability within CuSA Project leaders and key contracting partners to enable the desired health and safety culture and enact HSS risk management and compliance requirements.
- Review project design specification to ensure HSS risks and controls are identified and captured within the Project design.
- Support with the embedment of the BHP field leadership program with the project team and wider in the Major Projects portfolio.
- Deliver coaching for line management on the quality and effectiveness of HSS risk assessments, event investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure provision of technical expertise and deliverables of health and safety requirements for the project and key contracting partners.
- Provide HSS leadership, support, and technical guidance for the SRE Project team.
- Develop and deliver relevant HSS content for upskilling of project owner’s teams and contractor personnel.
- Facilitate the communication between workgroups to ensure consistency in HSS systems, processes, procedures, and goals.
About You
As a self-motivated professional with excellent communication and engagement skills, a proven passion for HSS and a culture of care and ability to influence leadership.
To be successful in the role, you will have:
- Strong communication and engagement skills and an ability to adapt to suit target audience.
- Experience working with projects and studies is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver team results and meet deadlines.
- Confidence to identify and lead change through vision setting, empowerment, drive and effective execution of change management processes.
- Ability to engage build trustful relationships and work effectively with both senior internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage contractors and review, critically analyse and challenge contractor HSS performance.
