About the Role
We currently have an opportunity to join our Health, Safety, Security and Emergency Management (HSS&EM) team at our Goonyella Riverside Mine. The Principal role is responsible for providing leadership, coaching and expert advice to key stakeholders on health and wellbeing matters. This role will report to the HSS&EM Manager at the operation.
As the successful candidate, you will;
- Coach and upskill health specialists in complex injury, illness case management, return to work, rehabilitation and workers compensation processes
- Provide expert technical advice and coaching on classification and non-complex case management
- Maintain strong internal and external relationships with key stakeholders
- Project manage (lead and execute) risk and data led proactive health and wellbeing programs
- Manage our health, hygiene and wellbeing risk through effective control ownership, design and performance
- Have a growth mindset to improve our Health standards, procedures and systems to deliver efficiencies
- Participate in global health initiatives and industry workshops
- Partner with Occupational Hygiene to provide high level technical advice to reduce workplace exposures
- Maintain key medical and allied health services through contract management
About You
To be successful in the Principal Health role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related discipline with APHRA or similarly related registration – nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, psychology, etc.
- Minimum of five year's experience working in a large complex environment ideally within mining or heavy industry
- Effective project management skills (strong verbal and written communication skills) are essential, with the capability to effectively engage and coach at all levels of an organisation
- You will have relevant experience in systemic management of Occupational Health and partnering with Occupational Hygiene in a substantial business
- Working knowledge of both Queensland workers compensation and Queensland coal mining health and safety legislation is required
- Personal resilience to act as the subject matter expert on health matters in a fast-paced environment utilising current evidence-based practice
