About the Role

The Principal, Healthy Environment Goal Integrity role provides technical leadership informed by on-the-ground expertise to support the design, delivery and continuous improvement of BHP’s Healthy Environment Goal program and associated land-based sustainability initiatives.

Working across the business, you will integrate your experience of ecological science, conservation, Traditional Owner partnerships and regenerative land management into project guidance and assurance, helping ensure BHP’s nature-related commitments translate into credible, measurable performance in the landscapes where we operate.

Reporting to the Manager, Sustainability Partnerships, and partnering closely with Environment, External Affairs, Legal and ESG governance teams, you will apply knowledge of ecological systems, biodiversity dependencies and natural-capital considerations to optimise program performance and support sound, evidence-based action.

You will leverage insights from the development and evaluation of nature and/or carbon projects to embed BHP’s Nature Project Integrity Principles in project design and delivery, strengthen monitoring and performance analytics, and support effective management of nature-related risks, impacts and opportunities.

About You

  • Strong environmental project development capability, including experience establishing and/or developing nature or carbon projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement credible monitoring frameworks, including baselines, impact assessment, data collection/analysis and interpretation of ecological change.
  • Experience developing or applying land-management plans, reserve management plans, or landscape-scale conservation strategies, including adaptive management approaches.
  • Strong experience working in Indigenous-partnered land management or conservation initiatives, including partnering with Traditional Owners and local land managers in two-way science and culturally informed practices.
  • Working knowledge of nature-related risks, dependencies and impacts (e.g., TNFD-like and natural-capital approaches) and the ability to communicate technical information clearly in reports, presentations and decision support.
