About the Role
As Principal Hosting you will play a key role in leading and managing BHP Minerals Americas Operational Technology (OT) hosting services and infrastructure (physical and virtual). This role is crucial for ensuring the robustness, efficiency, and security of our OT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in virtualization, operating systems and computing (on-prem and cloud), lifecycle management, and problem-solving to drive operational excellence.
Reporting to the Superintendent Priority Support & Training, you will lead a team of engineers to manage the infrastructure, maximize service availability and prevent the occurrence of incidents, always putting safety and security first.
In this role, you will:
• Drive your team to reliably deliver team results and meet KPIs
• Generate a team culture of continuous improvement and leading change
• Lead the resolution of complex technical issues related to OT hosting services. Implement robust problem-solving methodologies to address root causes and prevent recurrence.
• Regularly visit operation sites to collaborate with clients and ensure efficient, compliant, and safe mining operations.
• Conduct regular trend analysis to identify patterns, predict potential issues, and recommend proactive measures. Utilize data-driven insights to optimize performance and reduce downtime.
• Oversee the asset management and lifecycle on-premises OT hosting services, from planning and deployment to maintenance and decommissioning. Ensure all systems are up-to-date and compliant with BHP standards and updated in BHP configuration database (CMDB).
• Implement and manage comprehensive vulnerability management. Mitigate security vulnerabilities detected within the OT environment in a timely manner to comply with BHP standards and vendor recommendations.
• Enable the transition to operations execution from projects, ensuring services and assets are properly controlled and integrated.
• Enable monitoring, event and alert management processes, facilitating the integration of BHP monitoring tools, defining thresholds, and propose improvements to detect incidents proactively.
• Oversee the planning and execution of disaster recovery testing and OT service continuity plan testing for infrastructure and support testing for production applications.
• Develop and implement maintenance management strategies to ensure the reliability of hosting infrastructure. Coordinate and oversee regular maintenance schedules and manage unplanned maintenance activities to minimize downtime and maintain operational efficiency.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, operations, and engineering, to ensure seamless integration and alignment of OT hosting services with business objectives.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers. Negotiate contracts and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of all hosting services and activities. Provide regular reports to senior management on performance, issues, and improvement initiatives.
About You
You will be an excellent team player who is also able to work in a stand-alone capacity. You will provide leadership to a team, focused on the management and support of on-site operational technology and systems. You will coach and develop team leaders / teams to deliver high performance. Your oral and written communication skills will be well developed, and you will be able to work collaboratively and build relationships at all levels.
To accomplish all this, you will need:
• Bachelor or higher degree in Computer Science, Technology or related to the role.
• 10+ years of experience on Technology Infrastructure operation or projects
• English level intermediate.
• Proven experience coordinating teams
• Strong understanding of Operational Techonology (OT) systems, infrastructure, and best practices.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Desirable experience or knowledge in public cloud using AWS or Azure
• Desirable experience Cybersecurity
• Desirable knowledge of ISA-95 standard.
• Desirable experience in mining, natural resources or other industrial environments
