About the Role

 

Thinking about your next career move? Then think big! BHP is looking for a talented Principal Inbound Maritime to help with building and executing BHPs Project Logistics portfolio. 

 

The purpose of the Maritime sub-function is to bring people and resources together through an optimized maritime supply chain that is world class, measured by the safest coverage at the lowest cost. This role is responsible for ensuring that optimal maritime solutions are delivered to the business in line with our commercial strategy. Reporting to the Lead Inbound Maritime (Minerals Australia), this role will be responsible for building and managing the logistics demand in Minerals Australia.

In this role, you will:

  • Transform BHP’s Inbound Supply Chain by insourcing freight requirements to BHP’s MSCE function
  • Writing business proposals, developing growth strategies and plans and increasing the regional logistics pipeline for Project shipments in Australia
  • Develop effective relationships with internal projects stakeholders and work closely with Project Commercial (Major and Asset) and Projects (end customer)
  • Working alongside Procurement (opex and capex) to provide detailed inbound supply chain expertise advising on freight cost choices.
  • Applying an understanding of the end-to-end Supply Chain to enhance efficiency, drive optimisation, and maximise value.
  • Collaborate and work in conjunction with the EPCM and IPT contractors to provide freight end to end solutioning for Projects
  • Understand Project Logistics budget and delivering savings back to the Project
  • Go to market for Supply Chain services including Ocean Freight Requirements and Pre and Post Carriage requirements.
  • Execute and optimise shipping practices by applying material, ship and port knowledge.
  • Apply logistics management procedures and requirements to safely and efficiently meet stakeholder demands.
  • Identify and assess risks, make risk informed decisions using BHP’s risk management framework and build a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Work within a global team based in Americas (Chile and Canada) and Asia (Australia, Singapore, Philippines and India) time zones

•    Experience with sourcing of containerized, out of gauge and break bulk cargo 
•    Experience with MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT)
•    Experience working in a project logistics/freight forwarding company a plus. 
•    Degree in Supply Chain is preferable but not a must
