About the Role
Accountable for the overall portfolio of pilot initiative transition from “Product Development” to “Into Demo”, ensuring all design, engineering, technical and assurance meeting all standards and requirements for a successful pilot planning and readiness for execution (Innovation Investment Committee requirements, business case, scope, risk mgt., and project mgt processes, etc).
Key role for the team Innovation Think & Act Differently (TAD) – Powered by BHP, in Minerals Americas.
Process Owner / Accountabilities:
• Integrates and coordinates all interfaces with the TAD Product Owner and the Vendors technology to establish all design and engineering requirements (ie: Mechanical, Piping, E&I, Civils)
• Frames and develop the Statement Of Requirements Process (SoR) and establish business objectives aligned with TAD Business Partners
• Leads the Pilot Engineering Study (SPS/DPS) to develop the business case before staring “TAD Into Demo” stage
• Establish base line and progress control schedule for initiatives transferred from TAD Product to TAD Delivery Office
• Frames and create Scope of Work and draft of SoR to initiate engineering development required for the class 3/2 (Budget & Schedule estimations)
• Provides technical support for initiatives development (Business partners & Delivery execution team).
• Monitor the progress of initiatives in development to ensure readiness for the demonstration phase.
• Validate pilot engineering, budget, and schedule with the delivery execution team.
• Leads the engineering contracts to ensure the fit-for-purpose and the right level of engineering design
• Peer review – other internal teams to ensure functional excellence across the full TAD Innovation Value Chain
• Supports detail engineering during Execution, budget & schedule validated with delivery execution team.
• Leads /supports the assurance of engineering / technical review processes.
About You
To be a top performer you will need:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Design and/or Construction related fields. Desirable experience in piloting & testings.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in engineering related fields, project management, studies, preferably in an industrial setting.
• Skills:
- Technical: Familiarity with framing, design and engineering requirements and, desirable experience in innovation projects.
- Project Management: Experience in framing, managing project/portfolio of opportunities (basis of estimates, schedules, budgets, and scopes).
- Communication: Ability to effectively communicate to senior stakeholders and liaise with business partners, execution teams, operations, Innovation’s Ecosystem and Product teams.
- Risk Mgt: Ability to anticipate, assess, and evaluate, and manage risks and their contingency strategies.
• Certifications: PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent is desirable.
• Availability to travel to site as need basis (1 or 2 times per month).
• Advanced English and Spanish proficiency.
