Work Location
Tucson, AZ office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.
BHP offers relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a relocation allowance.
Purpose
The Principal Land Management supports the BHP Legacy Assets USA portfolio with land holdings in Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and California. The successful candidate implements land title and ownership management, maintains an accurate database, provides commercial support for divestitures and acquisitions, and maintains key internal and external stakeholder relationships.
About the Role
In this role you will:
- Land title and ownership management

- Permit, lease, and tax payments
- Renewal or end of term of contracts including leases
- Maintaining filings of records in the proper regulatory agencies
- Maintain surface ownership and mineral ownership
- Participation in commerical transactions with land acquisition divestitures
- Title review and research
- Commercial negotiation applicable to real estate
- Land value evaluation
- Land survey confirmation
- Maintain strong working relationships with local community, contractors and government/regulator stakeholders.
About You
- Minimum requirement of a Bachelor degree in Natural Resource Management or related Bachelor of Science degree with land management experience
- Land management experience is required, preferably in mining, petroleum or construction
- Experience with land management software and GIS is required
- Strong interpersonal skills including an ability to interact and communicate professionally and respectfully with site staff, functional support teams, and regulatory agency representatives.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
