About the Role
BHP has a well-established Integrated Operations Centre in the heart of Brisbane providing control services for BMA’s Load and Haul function integrated with Maintenance Control and control of our fixed plant facilities and port operations.
A key responsibility of our Load and Haul team is the execution of an efficient truck allocation strategy asset wide across our large fleet of rear dump trucks fleet to deliver on our near-term plan objectives.
We are seeking an experienced Mining Engineer, particularly experienced in haulage engineering, to join our team in the role of Principal Load and Haul. This is a pivotal role that brings technical acumen in load and haul, combined with a strong engagement focus aimed at uplifting our controller capability and continuously improving our truck allocation strategy in the execution space.
Supporting our 24/7 operations, this role is offered on a 7/7 day shift only roster based in Brisbane.
In this role you will:
- Motivate, engage and coach the team towards achieving safety, inclusiveness and productivity goals
- Support optimisation and delivery of all load and haul activities (Coal and Pre-strip) aligned to the Weekly plan
- Acting at the asset level, pro-actively manage load and haul risk providing options and influencing outcomes in the Week of Operations leveraging our sophisticated tools and resources
- Provide continuity of technical context to Execution personnel on various rosters enabling delivery of BMA's plans through improved deviation management aligned to common objectives
- Positively shape the culture of the Integrated Operations Centre in alignment with the BHP values
- Bring a strong bias to empowerment of front-line teams and problem solving at the root cause
About You
- A tertiary qualified Mining Engineer with a deep understanding of load and haul activities, mine design and scheduling experienced in open cut mining
- Ability to interpret, analyse and support optimisation of short-term haulage plans to deliver optimal overall outcomes in the 24hr and weekly time horizon
- Passionate about engaging and empowering a broader team across multiple crews, building capability and context
- Ability to act autonomously with strong stakeholder engagement specifically, communication, influencing, coaching and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset with a passion for the pursuit of operating perfection
