About the Role

 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and dynamic individual to join our team in Singapore or Australia as part of our Iron Ore Marketing Strategy and Technical function.  Reporting to the Manager Commercial Strategy Iron ore, this role is responsible for providing support in the development and execution of the Iron Ore commercial strategy.

 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Provides commercial expertise in sales and marketing asset planning, conversion of strategy into tactical sales plans and marketing initiatives.
  • Provide deep market intelligence, by understanding specific structural trends, customers, competitors, products, custom and practice, and end use, to protect BHP’s inherent competitive position in the external market.
  • Recognises the interdependencies of complex global dynamics / trends and drives outcomes to manage emerging risks or one-off disruptions.
  • Monitor industry development and technology changes, and assess the impact on our products, markets and product value proposition.
  • Actively engage and participate in research and/or strategic projects and provide analytical/commercial support on project work that inform decisions and market strategies.
  • Works independently and collaboratively to create and implement changes in the Supply Chain that will increase efficiency and effectiveness and drive value and performance.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects, summarising and effectively communicating information and insights into commercial opportunities to support mid to long-term assessments and productivity projects across the business.
  • Liaise with the broader Marketing function to establish and improve tools and processes to support continuous improvement that enable decision-making.

About You

 

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in commercial or analytical field – ideally within the resources sector and/or demonstrated strong commercial acumen. Iron Ore exposure is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrate ability to think strategically, with a record of influencing business outcomes.
  • Curious and passionate about steelmaking, the iron ore market and value proposition
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills with an ability to simplify complex challenges into clear messages.
  • Excellent stakeholders’ management skills with senior leaders, cross-functional teams, and/or external agencies
  • Self-motivated equipped with capability to drive an independent workstream in the context of a broader functional objective.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering or Business discipline
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Additional languages advantageous.
  • Proficient in PowerPoint and Excel tools, with the ability to develop narratives and data-driven presentations.
