About the Role

 

 

Provides technical knowledge and expertise in conducting assurance activities over risk management and internal processes and controls. Supports the delivery of the approved internal audit plan by effectively and efficiently planning, executing and reporting audit activity in the allocated portfolio of audits across Assets, Functions and Exploration activities. 

Delivers audit activities for selected scope areas within audit engagements with high degree of quality. This is completed by planning, executing and reporting in compliance with the IAA Audit Methodology, relevant BHP governance framework requirements and industry standards. 

 

Main Accountabilities:


•    Leads audit planning by assisting with audit preparation, on-boarding, design of data analytics, logistics and consistent work program development,

•    Assists in the sourcing of suitable subject matter experts, through established co-source contracts or as guest auditors, to supplement the internal team, where appropriate. Oversees auditors, to ensure effective delivery of selected scope.

•    Uses data analytics to refine scope, analyse trends, identify exceptions and produce factually based outcomes.

•    Completes fieldwork testing by completing and/or monitoring work allocated by the Audit Manager and collaborating with the audit team, data analytics SMEs and risk culture SMEs by sharing internal audit knowledge and contribution to factually based outcomes.

•    Leads risk culture assessments using data collection, development of risk culture questions, performance of interviews and documentation of risk culture insights including the relationship between risk culture behaviours and audit findings.

•    Writes factual findings and agreed actions and supports report writing as required. Conducts audit quality checks.

•    Provides clarity over complex internal audit issues and promotes critical thinking to help the business change their paradigms to improve the risk and control environment and supporting risk culture

•    Enhances audit quality by effective stakeholder engagement and timely delivery of audit outcomes.

About You

 

 

To be a top performer you will need:

 

•    Complete tertiary education - completed a university degree from a recognised educational institution in HSE, mining or engineering.

•    Fluency in English and Spanish (both verbal and written).

•    Knowledge and proven experience in an operational discipline (HSE, production, technical, maintenance, etc.) and in risk management. Desirable experience in assurance/audits. Total experience of at least 10 years.  

•    Depth of knowledge and proven experience in the resources industry of at least 10 years

•    Practical experience in application of Risk Management in resources industry.
