The Challenge Ahead

 

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the integrated management of BHP’s Canada operations.

As Principal Operations, Legacy Assets Canada you will work across teams and regions to coordinate planning, reporting, and performance, ensuring consistency and continuous improvement across the legacy asset portfolio.

You will partner with site teams, technical specialists, and stakeholders to align ways of working, strengthen governance, and support safe, efficient delivery of operational and project activities. This is a highly collaborative role with exposure to strategic planning, risk management, and operational improvement initiatives across North America.

Key Responsibilities

 

You will lead coordination and integration across Canada Operations, including:

  • Supporting planning, reporting, and action tracking to enable effective delivery
  • Managing contractor-related activities, including acting as Contract Manager for Island Copper operations
  • Coordinating budget tracking, forecasting, and planning inputs across life-of-asset and medium-term plans
  • Facilitating risk, HSE, compliance, and contractor management processes with internal and external stakeholders
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the BHP Operating System and Canada team priorities
  • Supporting projects, technical studies, audits, and site-based initiatives
  • Coordinating site visits, leadership engagements, and stakeholder tours across locations

What You’ll Bring to the Role

 

You are a highly organized and collaborative professional with a strong operational mindset and the ability to connect teams and processes.


You will bring:

  • Experience in mining, projects, geoscience, environmental management, closure, or a related discipline
  • Strong knowledge of planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities across teams and geographies
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively with contractors, consultants, and technical teams
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

Work Location

 

This role can be based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan or Elliot Lake, Ontario, and will require travel to sites across Canada and the United States.

Total Rewards

 

The starting annual salary range for this role is $145,600 - 182,000 CAD.  Additional rewards include a short-term incentive bonus program, health plan, personal spending account, dental, life insurance, and pension.
