About the Role
BHP Coal has a well-established Integrated Operations Centre in the heart of Brisbane providing control services for BMA’s Coal Handling Preparation Plants (CHPP) and Port Operations alongside Load and Haul and Maintenance control.
A key responsibility of our Fixed Plant team is the safe execution of on-spec and on-time production optimised across the asset supply chain to deliver best value for our customers.
We are seeking experienced Process Engineers, particularly experienced in production monitoring, quality management and stakeholder engagement. These are pivotal roles that bring technical acumen and customer focus to support the uplift of controller capability and continuously improving our production strategy in the execution space.
Supporting our 24/7 operations, this role is on a 7/7 day shift only roster (Wed – Tues).
In this role you will:
- Positively shape the culture of the Integrated Operations Centre in alignment with the BHP values.
- Motivate, engage and coach the team towards achieving safety, inclusiveness and productivity goals.
- Support optimisation and delivery of all production and port activities aligned to the Weekly plan.
- Acting at the asset level, pro-actively manage coal production risks providing options and influencing outcomes in the Week of Operations leveraging our sophisticated tools and resources.
- Provide continuity of technical context to Execution personnel on various rosters enabling delivery of BMA's plans through improved deviation management aligned to common objectives.
- Support CHPP teams onsite and controllers to optimise for maximum processing efficiency.
- Bring a strong bias to empowerment of front-line teams and problem solving at the root cause.

About You
- A tertiary qualified Chemical or Process Engineer with a deep understanding of production activities, supply chain optimisation and processing efficiency.
- You will be able to interpret, analyse and support optimisation of short-term production plans and process plant results to deliver optimal overall outcomes in the 24hr and weekly time horizon.
- Be passionate about engaging and empowering a broader team across multiple crews, building capability and context.
- Able to act autonomously with strong stakeholder engagement specifically, communication, influencing, coaching and problem-solving skills.
- Possess a continuous improvement mindset with a passion for the pursuit of operating perfection.
