About the Role
The Rail Technology Programme (RTP) is currently seeking to fill the role of Principal Program Communications to support delivery of our project.
RTP, one of Western Australia Iron Ore’s (WAIO) major projects, is a transformational upgrade of WAIO's train control and signalling system, delivering benefits across safety, rail capability and providing automation option value. This exciting and ground-breaking project is in advanced stages of execution phase.
The role of the Principal Program Communications requires a dynamic, strategic and creative professional who can drive and deliver the Program Communications Strategy within the RTP project team, manage RTP’s branding and assist with building excitement and awareness of the project, key delivery milestones and benefits.
In this role you will:
- Own and manage implementation of the RTP Communications Strategy
- Plan and prepare program communications for the Rail Technology Programme (RTP)
- Manage RTP’s suite of communications channels ensuring appropriate content and presence on each to effectively communicate with identified stakeholder groups
- Ensure consistency in program level messaging and materials is presented across all stakeholder groups
- Prepare and publish regular project updates and news feeds on behalf of the RTP Project team (including the RTP Project Director)
- Manage the design of, and sourcing content for, the RTP website keeping it current, relevant and up to date for stakeholders and the project team
- Plan program communications horizons up through to deployment of the system and completion of migration.
- Coordinate the production of project-centric videos as part of the communications strategy
- Ensure alignment between program communications and RTP's Organisational Change Management communications
- Liaise with WAIO's Communications team in relation to any external communications and provide relevant RTP content for WAIO's communications channels
- Liaise with communications representatives from RTP's contractors (as required)
- Produce relevant content for RTP/MAP/WAIO town halls and newsletters
- Support conformance with the BHP Charter, Our Requirements, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have a passion for RTP’s Vision (Innovating to Deliver a Better Railway) and role model BHP’s culture of care, inclusion and diversity. The successful candidate will be a creative and innovative communicator with an ability to bring ideas and strategies to life in support of building RTP’s brand and awareness across the business. An appreciation of WAIO’s operational landscape and complexities is also highly desirable to assist with translating project details into what the target audience need to know as the project moves closer to deployment. Other success factors include ability to engage, influence and build relationships.
Your skills and experience will also include:
- Degree qualified in Communications, Marketing or similar
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Understanding of differing messaging needs of various levels of stakeholders
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work autonomously and work effectively under pressure to deliver outcomes
- Experience operating in a changing and challenging environment
- An overriding commitment to the BHP Charter Values and a strong commitment to safety
- Experience in a professional communications roles within industry or consultancy firms.
