About the Role

 

Reporting to the Manager Mines Decarbonisation within the Minerals Australia Operational Decarbonisation team, the role targets trialling new technologies in our WAIO operations to replace diesel equipment with cutting edge electric solutions.  This could include mobile equipment, cars, buses and other equipment.  You will be working with a broad range of stakeholders, including site based customers, functions as well as leading equipment manufacturers.   

 

 This position is a key enabler of BHP's decarbonisation commitments and will:

 

  • Lead the delivery of a complex capital program deploying next‑generation electrical and low‑/zero‑emissions technologies.
  • Manage project lifecycle activities from identification through to handover, including scoping, feasibility, execution planning and delivery.
  • Own and manage specific elements of the BHP Decarbonisation Roadmap relating to diesel displacement and electrical infrastructure enablement.
  • Maintain critical equipment manufacturer relationships and influence supplier outcomes to ensure solutions meet BHP requirements.  

About You

 

As the successful candidate you will possess the following: 

 

  • Strong safety leadership skills and history of field leadership participation
  • Degree qualifications in engineering, project management, or aligned technical discipline.
  • Strong electrical background (essential) with experience delivering electrical infrastructure or electrification‑related projects.
  • Demonstrated strong understanding and leadership of project study and delivery methodology and requirements across all stages of the project lifecycle 
  • Confidence influencing senior levels and cross-functional, cross-geography collaborative teams not directly in reporting lines
  • Experience in strategic decision making and delivery of complex solutions
  • Risk and uncertainty management and analysis skills
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen, advanced problem solving and strategic resolution capabilities
  • Exceptional partnership and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding
