About the Role
Manages an area of scope focused on execution of delivery / construction strategies, integration and interface management to ensure delivery in line with the approved statement of requirements. Member of a high performance team delivering a WA Major Project, including the implementation of BOS.
Accountabilities:
- Manages the execution phase of a clearly defined area of scope within a project in compliance with internal and external governance processes and Global Standard performance requirements, to ensure safe delivery of the scope of work within approved quality, schedule, cost and business case KPIs.
- Within defined area of scope, monitors work package cost, schedule and risk. Performs work package monthly forecasting and provides delivery inputs to monthly reports.
- Ensures the timely delivery of any Owner obligations within defined area of scope - e.g. access, accommodation, approvals, permits, water, power, free-issue equipment and materials, temporary facilities etc
- Coordinates the implementation of delivery strategies, methodologies, systems and execution plans which minimise waste and preserve value. Explores best fit solutions, takes ownership of decisions and manages value impacts within defined area of scope.
- Identifies, assesses and manages risk within defined area of scope, communicates risks to stakeholders, makes risk informed decisions to identify solutions, uses BHP's risk management framework to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
- Drives best value decision-making to ensure advancement of the defined area of scope while minimising delays and setbacks in the drive to attain project KPI’s. Monitors the delivery to ensure that deviations from the execution plan are adequately managed, communicated, mitigated and rectified.
- Proactively manages stakeholder relationships within the defined area of scope through timely communication, listening to the voice of the customer, while ensuring their needs, timings, priorities and availability are properly considered and aligned throughout the course of the execution. All tie-ins, testing, start-up and ramp-up are planned and executed to minimise Operational impacts.
- Manages performance of Delivery performed by 3rd parties within the defined area of scope. Participates in contract tender, evaluate and award processes, and manages implementation and administration of awarded contracts.
- Collaborates with Functional resources to achieve the project’s integrated scope, deliverables, quality, cost & schedule requirements. Leads the integration and coordination of functional inputs required for the delivery of the defined area of scope.
- Leads in the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives. Contributes to a continuous improvement and learning environment in which lessons, best practices and bright spots are proactively shared.
- Ensures the project is delivered aligned to the BOS Practices.
About You
- Preferably holds a Tertiary Qualification in a Technical Discipline (Engineering or Construction preferred) or in a Business / Financial / Commercial Discipline
- Project Management Certificate or affiliation is desirable (equivalent to AIPM Reg PM, CPPM or CPPP)
- Experience in project roles either in the resource or heavy industry sector and can demonstrate utilization of technical and project management skills through engineering activities, projects, standards, and governance to positively and safely impact a business. With a strong understanding of the project lifecycle, value levers and have proven success in delivery projects of varying size and complexity. With proven experience in delivering complex projects.
- Must have effective and highly influential diverse stakeholder engagement including an ability to constructively challenge ideas and build trusted relationships.
- Well-developed and demonstrated change management and culture building capabilities.
- Advanced communication skills and the ability to engage across a multitude of levels. With a sound understanding of key business and mining industry performance drivers.
This role is Perth based, but with regular travel to site. Minimum 5 days per fortnight on site (Newman) and 5/2/4/3 hybrid roster. Option for full time site based roster (5/2/4/3) from Perth also available.
