About the Role


We are seeking a proactive and dynamic Projects professional to join the BHP Internal Audit Team to support the delivery of internal audits.

This role is part of the Operational Audit team that delivers BHP’s Global annual internal audit plan, and is pivotal in providing assurance over projects, to ensure safe and sustainable investment in alignment with approved objectives. The position will preferably be based out of Perth (but candidates in other BHP locations, including Brisbane, Adelaide and Santiago will also be considered) and reports to the Operational Audit Manager.

The role will also be involved in providing assurance over other risk areas across BHP’s global operations, such as Health, Safety & Environment, Asset Integrity, Closure, Tailings and Geotechnical Stability.  

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Deliver the approved annual internal audit plan, by conducting the planning, execution and close-out of internal audits in accordance with relevant BHP and professional standards. 
  • Foster strong engagement with stakeholders to enable delivery of quality audit delivery, leveraging data analytics, and ensuring efficient testing and communication.
  • Identify and manage guest auditors and co-sourced partners to support the delivery of quality audits.
  • Build trusted relationships with key stakeholders across the business in operational risk areas, including project governance, studies and execution teams.
  • Collaborate on the development of upcoming internal audit annual plans.
  • Deliver continuous improvement and other strategic initiatives to enhance team performance and ways of working.

 

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive, inquisitive, detail-oriented professional with strong communication and influencing skills and have a willingness to learn in a dynamic and energetic work environment. 

 

  • Extensive experience in project studies, execution and/or governance roles within mining, resources, or large-scale industrial environments, and preferably hold a formal qualification in Project Management.
  • Strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environment and sustainable development. 
  • Proven ability to lead others, effectively engage with varied stakeholders, and deliver objectives on time and within budget.  
  • Skilled in risk management, project governance, and the use of data analytics. 
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, providing clear, objective and practical outputs.
  • Have the flexibility to travel for audits, which may be for a few weeks at a time.
