About the Role

 

At BHP, energy is much more than an operational input: it is a strategic lever for moving towards more sustainable, zero-emission mining. As Principal Regulatory & Market Intelligence – Power Contracts, you will lead the analysis of the regulatory environment and the electricity market, comprehensively managing the BHP group's electricity supply contracts.

 

 

Main  Duties:

  • This role combines strategic vision, technical knowledge, and relationship skills to ensure that our electricity contracts are aligned with operational needs, regulatory changes, and market opportunities. You will be responsible for managing the group's portfolio of electricity contracts, ensuring their proper implementation, compliance, and evolution in line with the organization's growth needs.
  • In addition, you will actively monitor the Chilean regulatory environment, interacting with authorities such as CNE, SEC, CEN, and the Ministry of Energy, anticipating regulatory changes and proposing sustainable solutions. You will generate market intelligence focused on identifying relevant dynamics in the electricity sector, providing strategic input for decision-making at the local and corporate levels.
  • You will work closely with technical, legal, and commercial teams in Chile, Australia, and the Americas, so advanced English proficiency is essential for effective communication and the preparation of strategic documents.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Professional degree in Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience in the electricity market, energy regulation, or supply contract management.
  • Proven experience in electricity contracts, regulatory analysis, and relations with authorities.
  • Advanced English, both spoken and written, essential for collaborative work with global teams.
