About the Role
Group Accounting and Reporting’s objective is to ensure BHP produces relevant and reliable Group level management and statutory reporting in a robust, compliant and timely manner under a common set of principles.
Reporting into the Manager Group Reporting, we are currently seeking a Principal Reporting with a focus on completing internal and external reporting in a timely, consistent and accurate manner, including identifying and implementing process improvements. The areas the Principal Reporting will work across are complex, high profile (including half yearly Results Announcement and Annual Report) and require a thorough understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as Australian, United Kingdom and US legislation.
Key Accountabilities
- Coordinate half year and year end reporting timetables.
- Lead the preparation, review and delivery of Group statutory reporting deliverables including the half year and year-end Results Announcements, Financial Statements and accompanying Notes and 20F reporting requirements (US reporting requirements).
- Key liaison contact with external audit to clear audit related queries during the half year and year end processes.
- Key liaison contact with external legal advisors to clear outstanding issues during the half year and year end reporting releases.
- Support Investor Relations in the review reports and presentations.
- Assist in the preparation and review of training materials and other documentation to support Reporting teams around the world in meeting Groups requirements.
- Ensure key controls are operating effectively over the statutory and management reporting processes.
- Assist in the preparation and review of the monthly Group consolidated results including the review of Group wide monthly submissions, high-level variance analysis and the preparation of insightful commentary.
- Assist in the preparation of the Finance and Performance Report for the Executive Leadership Team.
- Ad-hoc requests from Regulators, Group Financial Controller, CFO and other senior management.
About You
- Bachelor of Commerce, Management, Finance or Accounting degree
- Significant financial reporting related experience in a large international corporate environment.
- Experience in a Global accounting firm is strongly recommended.
- An understanding of IFRS as well as Australian, United Kingdom and US legislation compliance requirements is recommended.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and written skills, be able to work independently and be proactive in a complex environment with strict timelines.
- Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills, excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail.
- CPA/CA qualification is recommended.
