About the Role
The Principal Risk Business Partner - Portfolio and Strategy Development (PS&D) acts to support the delivery of BHP’s growth agenda and strategy development and execution by optimising our risk support model. The role will act as a trusted risk advisor for our stakeholders, protecting and creating value through risk expertise, insights, oversight and challenge.
This role offers the opportunity to make a big impact on a global level. Your accountabilities will include:
- Optimise Risk support for transactions, supporting effective decision making by leadership and the Board by providing risk analysis that balances upside with associated threats
- Define a common approach to support PS&D activities with risk management tools and templates and clarifying customer interfaces to maximise value, build capability and remove waste
- Provide support for select investment transactions
- Risk business partner support for our PS&D risk and control owners, providing insights, oversight and challenge
- Support continued improvement in risk based strategic decision-making, advising on the performance of Key Risk Indicators and emerging risk signals
- Leverage expertise and experience across transactions and PS&D’s risk profile to supplement GRIA’s risk intelligence, connection into Strategic Business Objectives and Annual Improvement Priorities
- Monitor risk performance, capability and culture within PS&D to build a deep understanding of relative strengths and gaps to inform action and reporting
- Build PS&D team risk capability and culture to support sustainable risk outcomes including through coaching, training and storytelling
- Support the Portfolio & Commodities Strategy, and Assets & Growth Options Priority Group Risk, in collaboration with the Group Risk Owners, providing insight, interface and reporting capability
- Apply a deep understanding of the risk framework, including risk appetite, architecture, governance, process and systems.
About You
As a successful candidate you will possess the following:
- Strategic thinker with a strong collaboration focus.
- Extensive experience liaising with, and influencing, diverse stakeholder groups spanning functional disciplines, diverse leadership teams from multiple geographies, commodities, jurisdictions, and senior executives.
- Significant experience in risk management in a strategic environment, with extensive knowledge of professional standards (NIST, ISO31000, COSO, and RIMS).
- Strong analytical skills and evaluative judgment in complicated or novel situations, with attention to detail and quality control to ensure work is factually accurate and free from error.
- Global perspective and understanding of portfolio management, strategy, mining and processing industries.
- Professional post graduate risk management qualification through an accredited organisation (preferred).
- Degree in relevant field such as risk, commerce, finance or law.
Location and Roster
We have flexibility for this role to be based at our BHP Australia corporate offices in Perth, Brisbane or Adelaide. You will be working Monday to Friday roster and flexible work is also offered.
