About the Role

 

We are looking for an experienced commercial professional to drive the execution of the regional commercial strategy for Potash across Brazil and other Latin America. Reporting to Manager Sales Latin America and EU you will play a key role in managing strategic customers, leading commercial negotiations, overseeing contracts, and generating insights that strengthen our business decisions.
 As BHP’s commercial representative in the region, you will serve as the connection between our customers and internal teams—including Market Analysis, Portfolio Strategy, Supply Chain, Operations, and Corporate Affairs—ensuring strong relationships and consistent commercial outcomes.
 The role is based in Brazil; however, candidates based in other Latin America regions will be considered, provided they have flexibility for frequent travel to São Paulo and across Latin America.
 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Execute the commercial strategy across Brazil and other Latin America, delivering on agreed commercial targets.
  • Lead, develop, and strengthen long-term relationships with key customers.
  • Conduct commercial negotiations and manage contracts aligned with BHP’s priorities.
  • Oversee contract performance, compliance, risk management, and issue resolution.
  • Represent BHP in customer engagements, fostering trust and long-term partnerships
  • Translate customer insights and market signals into actionable strategic recommendations.
  • Support sales and marketing initiatives that enhance market penetration and brand positioning.
  • Identify commercial risks and drive proactive, aligned solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of commercial processes and customer engagement.
  • Monitor market dynamics, supply chain performance, and key commercial KPIs to support decision-making.
  • Operate effectively within a lean team structure, managing multiple priorities with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Ensure adherence to internal governance frameworks, compliance standards, and the BHP Code of Business Conduct.

 

About You

 

You bring a strong commercial background and a deep understanding of the fertilizer and commodity markets. You have approximately 5–10 years of relevant experience in sales and/or marketing roles within commodity or fertilizer markets.
 
Specifically, you have:

  • Front-office experience in sales, marketing, or key account management within fertilizers, potash, or related commodity markets.
  • Solid knowledge of fertilizer logistics and regional supply chain operations.
  • A track record managing complex, high-volume customer portfolios—ideally across Brazil and broader Latin America.
  • Proven experience in contract management, negotiations, and solving commercial challenges, including end-to-end management of high-value commercial contracts.
  • The ability to translate customer insights and market intelligence into strategic recommendations.
  • Strong customer focus and the ability to build trust-based relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Comfort operating within large, global, matrixed organizations with established governance processes.
  • High levels of autonomy, ownership, adaptability, and multitasking capability.
  • Experience working in multicultural and cross-functional environments.
  • Fluency in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.
  • Willingness to travel across the region.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong digital skills, including SAP, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office suite.
