About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Principal to join the BMA Asset Management & Engineering (AME) Team who can work within the Compliance, Contractor Management & Site Systems framework. This is an exciting & challenging role, where you will work with a team of professionals, to ensure and improve the readiness of the Safety & Health Management System (SHMS) and compliance of contractors, for dragline & shovel shutdowns across our BMA operations.

Reporting to Superintendent Site Systems, you will support in developing strategies to govern the SHMS, & support Contract Owners in the practical implementation of the Contractor Management Framework (CMF). As part of this position, you will liaise with senior leaders and various corporate groups such as Legal, Risk, Asset Systems, Central Contracts and Training to coordinate required activities in alignment with internal and external requirements. The location preference for this role is within the Bowen Basin or in Brisbane, where periodic site travel would be required.

Key Responsibilities for this role include:

 

  • Support the AME Site Senior Executive (SSE) to ensure readiness of excised of leases and the establishment of the SHMS for each shutdown.

  • Identify and lead initiatives to bridge any identified gaps, facilitate change and embed new systems to support the continuous improvement of the SHMS.

  • Plan & tracks the delivery of improvement initiatives to generate value and drive the achievement of program outcomes.  

  • Acting as one of the key subject matter experts (SME) for AME in the GRC(governance, Risk Compliance) domain, providing insights and guidance on best practices, regulatory requirements and organisational standards.

  • Provide technical support, coaching and governance of the Safety and Health Management System, risk management, legislative and compliance framework.

  • Support Contract Owners in the execution of their duties as outlined in the Contractor Management Framework.

  • Schedule, facilitate, record mobilization, safety and performance and close out meetings required under CMF routines.

  • Develop, complete, and maintain work scopes, risk assessments and CMS checklist documentation in conjunction with stakeholders.

  • Monitor, support and sustain contract partners compliance to the Safety Health Management System.

  • Manages the sustainability of AMEs document management

About You

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Safety, Risk, Law, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, managing and delivering improvement projects to a strict timeline
  • Highly experienced in managing Safety and Health Management Systems, with a strong working knowledge and application of Qld Coal Mining Safety and Health legislation and regulatory bodies.
  • Excellent attention to detail, ability to work at pace and under pressure and able to adapt and adjust the plan to meet evolving stakeholder expectations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence health, safety, and training outcomes.
  • Strong action orientation and superior problem solving, decision making and influencing skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills allowing you work with senior internal stakeholders 
  • A meticulous and effective team player who works well in a fast-paced environment.
