About the Role
Partner with Assets and Functions to embed Social Value into business decisions and planning to position BHP as a positive contributor in the Latin America region.
Core Responsabilities:
- Ensure the correct embedment of the Social Value strategy and 2030 goals into medium- and long-term planning, ensuring commitments and targets are reflected in business processes.
- Provide expertise for the development and delivery of Non-Economically Quantifiable Impact (NEQI) assessments for capital investments, transactions and other business opportunities, engaging cross-functional teams and embedding Social Value considerations into decision-making.
- Act as a trusted advisor to Studies and Projects teams, embedding Social Value early in project design and investment planning.
- Monitor internal and external trends to inform risk assessments, Social Value analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of the annual Social Value Report by identifying and systematizing operational case studies that strengthen internal and external stakeholder engagement and enhance communication of BHP’s Social Value performance.
- Build Social Value capability across the business by providing expert guidance and coaching to teams and individuals.
About You
To be a top performer you will need:
- Engineer or Sustainability degree.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in mining industry, with experience in social environment matters and/or project management.
- Ability to work with technical subject matter experts to quickly understand complex technical problems and synthesize them into business cases and valuation analyses.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to provide clear and concise insights from complex data sets.
- Exceptional communications to effectively engage with and advise colleagues at all levels of the Company.
- Fluent oral and written Spanish, and intermediate oral and written English.
- Experience in Business Planning processes.
- Experience in contracting consulting services.
- Experience managing socio-environmental processes in the mining sector.
Desirable:
- Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, business or related fields.
- Knowledge of social and environmental risk management standards (Copper Mark, ICMM, etc).
- Proficiency in analysis methodologies and plans for socio environmental investment evaluations.
