About the Role

 

This role is critical within the Approvals function of BHPs Western Australian Iron (WAIO) and we require a dynamic, experienced professional who has proven understanding and experience of WA regulatory approvals.

 

Working across multiple mining and infrastructure projects in Western Australia, you will be required to deliver State Agreement approvals and manage the coordination of overall approvals advice from multiple Approvals Subject Matters Experts (SMEs) to enable the provision of Approvals Strategies, schedules, monthly reporting and permitting.  

 

Reporting to the Superintendent State Agreement and Approvals Integration, this position requires that you can manage large, strategic, or complex projects, maintain flexibility to adapt to changing business conditions whilst working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide strategic advice to Project teams regarding approvals pathways, risks, and opportunities.
  • Lead collaboration between Project teams and Approvals SMEs to coordinate the early identification of regulatory approvals requirements and deliver the internal Permitting process.
  • Develop and maintain approvals schedules in collaboration with Planners and SMEs and coordinate monthly schedule updates and Approvals reporting.
  • Proactively identify approval related risks, in consultation with SMEs, to avoid/mitigate delays through practical problem solving.
  • Provide technical advice on State Agreement approvals requirements
  • Obtain State Agreement approvals and ensure compliance requirements are identified to enable strategic business planning.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation associated with State Agreement and Approvals Advice tasks.

About You

 

To be successful for this role, you will be extremely collaborative and strategically minded with high level influencing skills and attention to details.  You are team oriented and results focused with a demonstrated track record of:

  • Knowledge and experience in the practical application of WA State regulatory approvals.
  • Demonstrated experience in the use of ArcGIS, the MS Office suite, data systems, and working with schedules.
  • Excellent written, oral and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Evidence of managing accurate records and documentation.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic working environment.
  • Experience in a similar role or in a project management role would be highly desirable.

 

Qualification:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in relevant field (Physical Sciences, Engineering, Urban Planning etc)
  • 10 years+ experience in relevant field
