About Mt Athur Coal

Mt Arthur Coal is an open-cut coal mine 100 per cent owned by BHP. Located in the Hunter Valley, New South Wales it's the largest producer of energy coal in the region, operating alongside olive growers, wine makers, horse breeders and the nearby residential community of Muswellbrook.

Our greatest asset is and has always been our people and communities, which is why we are committed to working together on our Pathway to 2030 - a program to responsibly close Mt Arthur Coal. We are about doing the right thing and working with everyone to co-create a shared vision for the future of the region.

About the Role

At BHP Mt Arthur Coal, we are committed to delivering a safe, responsible, and value-driven transition and closure program. We are seeking a highly capable and strategic Transition and Closure PMO Principal to oversee the governance and performance of our NSW Energy Coal (NSWEC) transition and closure portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of mine closure, driving critical milestones, and ensuring alignment with BHP’s closure vision and long-term strategic objectives.

About You

You are a strategic thinker and experienced program leader who thrives in complex, fast-paced environments. You bring a strong mix of governance, delivery, and stakeholder engagement skills, and are passionate about driving meaningful outcomes.

You’ll bring:

On Offer to You

This is a unique opportunity to have a rewarding career in a sought-after lifestyle location. Mt Arthur is a large, open-cut truck shovel operation, providing you with an opportunity to develop innovative solutions to technical problems.
