About the Role
Reporting to the Lead Mining Services Copper SA, as a Value Chain Specialist you will be a key enabler of value to the business by leading sourcing activities, implementing business improvements that drive cost savings and supporting mining operations across Copper SA with commercial contract management for high value strategic mining services and drilling scopes of work.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Support the delivery of the Category Strategy for mining services in Copper SA.
- Build trusted relationships with key asset, functional stakeholders and strategic vendors.
- Conduct end-to-end procurement activities, e.g. requirements gathering, sourcing strategy development, baseline building, tender management, negotiations, savings calculations and contract execution
- Develop contract management plans, to ensure that value is sustainably captured (which includes defining and tracking Key Performance Indicators and other measures of success)
- Category management including ongoing value delivery by leveraging fact-based insight through strong analytics, understanding of contracts and driving strategic actions, including innovation and newly emerging risks
- Driving business collaboration through cross functional teams to identify and execute opportunities that increase value through a reduction in total cost of ownership and improve safety and sustainability outcomes
- Periodic site travel will be required to support operational stakeholders.
This role is being offered on a 9 month secondment / Fixed Term Contract
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A strategic mind-set and strong commercial acumen to identify new risks and opportunities and drive initiatives to implementation, with experience utilising alternate commercial models.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or delivering complex/high value sourcing activities.
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to influence and build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Sound judgement to listen; ask the right questions and validate assumptions.
- Advanced analytical skills (e.g. Excel) with experience in using Power BI and Think Cell highly regarded.
- Experience and tertiary qualifications in engineering, law, commerce, finance or accounting would be beneficial.
- Mining industry experience is preferred, but not essential.
