About the Role

 

As the Specialist Value Chain, you will play a vital role in the development of multi-year strategies and partnerships and conducting sourcing activities.  

The Copper SA Mining Services category is integral to the integration of BHP’s South Australian copper province, where we’re working to integrate the existing Prominent Hill, Carrapateena and Olympic Dam businesses to bring the scale required to economically and sustainably produce more Copper in South Australia to deliver to global customers. 

 

Role activities and duties include:

 

  • Support the delivery of the Category Strategy for mining services in South Australia  
  • Develop and implement sourcing and contractor strategies to drive total value chain outcomes related to external spend using best practice tools. 
  • Deliver value by leveraging fact-based insight through strong analytics, understanding of contracts and driving strategic actions. 
  • Conduct end-to-end procurement activities, e.g. requirements gathering, baseline building, sourcing, negotiations, savings calculations, contract execution and contract management.  
  • Build trusted relationships with key asset, functional stakeholders and strategic vendors. 
  • Driving collaboration by participating in cross-functional teams to identify and execute opportunities to reduce total cost of ownership (i.e. considering not only price but utility, demand, productivity and so on) 
  • Keeping abreast of key external trends both functionally and Supply market perspective, new innovation and newly emerging risks  
  • Effective communication of strategies to all levels of internal stakeholders, from senior leadership to frontline operations 
  • Develop implementation and handover plan for contracts, to ensure that value is sustainably captured (which may include defining and tracking success measures) 

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

 

  • Demonstrated experience supporting or delivering complex/high value sourcing activities.  
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement skills including the ability to influence and build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Ability to problem solve and think laterally to independently resolve issues and influence change. 
  • A strategic mind-set and strong commercial acumen to identify new risks and opportunities and drive initiatives to implementation.  
  • Sound judgement to listen; ask the right questions and validate assumptions.  
  • Advanced analytical skills (e.g. Excel) with experience in using Power BI and Think Cell highly regarded. 
  • Experience and tertiary qualifications in engineering, law, commerce, finance or accounting would be beneficial.
