About the Role

 

A rare opportunity has arisen for a skilled procurement professional to fill the role of Specialist, NPI as part of the Copper SA Procurement team. Reporting to the Lead, NPI, this role is responsible for delivering high-quality, customer-focussed procurement activities, including category management, sourcing, contract management and improvement initiatives.

The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver high-quality, customer-focussed procurement activities through: 
 

  • Developing and executing sustainable category management, sourcing and contract management strategies based on global best practice and local insights, that target the realisation of best value 
  • Building and managing strong, collaborative relationships with internal customers, suppliers and other key stakeholders 
  • Being an expert commercial advisor to internal customers  
  • Identifying and leading improvement opportunities to maximise value and optimise risk management across the supply chain 
  • Striving to achieve 100% safety and 0% waste 
  • Identifying and leading local and indigenous sourcing opportunities 
  • Analysing, interpreting and reporting on large sets of financial data, performance metrics, market intelligence and other relevant information to make sound commercial recommendations and decisions 
  • Developing and evaluating complex total-cost-of-ownership and pricing models 
  • Supporting procurement activities led by others as required 
  • Taking personal accountability for their performance, working hard to deliver against individual, team and global KPIs, and stretch targets 
  • Identifying and proactively finding solutions to the root causes of problems hindering or preventing success 
  • Experimenting with better ways of doing things, and learning from mistakes 
  • Supporting team performance and capability development through peer support, collaboration, sharing of lessons learned and providing on-time feedback 
  • Engaging the capabilities of the entire organisation 

About You

 

 

  • At least two, but ideally five or more years’ experience in high value/risk procurement roles within medium to large organisations 
  • Mining or related industry experience is desirable, but not essential  
  • A qualification in Procurement, Law, Commerce or related field is desirable, but not essential 
  • Expert knowledge of procurement best practice
