The Project Finance Analyst is required to support the Carrapateena Expansion Program (CXP). The role will work across the three scope areas (block cave mine development, underground infrastructure, and surface infrastructure) and delivery groups (Carrapateena operations, Major Projects, CCAP) to ensure a wholistic view of project costs.
Term is 12 months initially, but possibly to be extended beyond this ahead of all elements of the CXP gating into execution.

In The Role You Will:
- Support the on-going development and refinement of the capital and operating cost models for the CXP mine, underground and surface infrastructure investment cases as identified in Opportunity Framing.
- Work with the project teams to ensure that the project key value drivers (KVD) are well understood and clearly articulated in the cost models.
- Support the risk ranging of the KVDs, along with development of cost models to support the risk ranging cases as required for the CXP and CopperSA program valuation activities.
- Work closely with the Risk teams to ensure that the project risk and value drivers are aligned, and project and program risks are adequately modelled.
- Align and harmonise cost models across other projects in the CopperSA growth program (e.g. OD Mine and Concentrator Growth project) to support analysis at the growth program level.
- Support the project cost benchmarking activities.
- Perform period on period analysis and reporting of changes in cost estimates over the life of the project phases.
- Support the development of project costs reporting and forecasting.
- Work with the Carrapateena Finance Business Partner to ensure that budget and life of asset (LoA) capital and operating costs are aligned with the project estimates.
About You:
- Tertiary qualifications within Finance and/or an aligning field.
- Previous experience within mining or similar industry will be highly regarded.
- Ability to independently problem solve.
- Strong analytical skills to identify emerging trends, understand drivers, highlight performance improvement opportunities and influence key decisions which deliver value.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, allowing you to build strong relationships, communicate and influence at all levels of the organisation to drive the right value outcomes for BHP
- Advanced excel skills.
- Ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously with strong attention to detail.
- A passion for displaying financial data in an impactful way to drive action/facilitate understanding.
