About the Role


Leads, manages and govern a portfolio of BHP Global Business Services / Function / Asset initiated transition and migrations projects. Responsible to defines project objectives/schedules, identifies critical activities, monitors the project plan/schedule and drives continuous improvement initiatives across projects at BHP Global Business Services (GBS).


Provides day-to-day leadership over the project team. Ensures approved program or projects are delivered within approved scope, timelines, budget, and agreed objectives and benefits to the organization.

    
Collaborates within the broader GBS structure both Projects and Operations Leadership Team, Operations Team (i.e., Human Resources, Finance, Procurement and others), Support teams and other external Partners to ensure each project is delivered with fit for purpose transition playbook and aligned with defined change, communication, and engagement to realise the maximum value for the organisation.

 

General

  • Demonstrates and instils an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development

  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, the BHP Our Requirements, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations

 

Strategy & Planning

  • Assists in BHP GBS transformational drives through participation in program or project definition and implementation

  • Helps in formulating plans aligned with BHP GBS’s organizational strategies and integrates leading practices to identify opportunities for continuous improvements

  • Provides in-depth cross-functional know-how and analysis for identified initiatives and shares expertise to define solutions

  • Supports in opportunity identification and in promoting the services of the Transition & Migrations team. Develops the paper for presentation to key stakeholders that details the high-level program or project strategy (e.g., scope, approach, timeline, business case, etc.)

  • Provides input into the cyclical annual BHP GBS project planning processes including inputs into integrated plans

 

People Management & Partnership Development

  • Fosters and manages relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders to ensure that expectations are aligned, and that successful program or project outcomes are achieved

  • Plays a leadership role in building the culture and driving the development of the Project community and capability across the BHP GBS

  • Manages a team of implementation partners during project roll out

  • Represents the Manager Transition & Migrations in working group to drive the right outcome for BHP GBS 

  • Performs various other activities e.g., facilitating workshops or meetings; developing the project plan into Kai Nexus (project tool); ensuring adherence to various compliance requirements; reviewing various deliverables and others

 

Project Management

  • Manages a portfolio of programs or projects that impacts either the BHP GBS or particular operations team, function or Asset; Drives and owns the program or project execution to ensure delivery is according to plan; successful quality completion of deliverables are produced; timely escalation of risks and issues are prioritized and communicated to key stakeholders; and that corresponding mitigations and controls are in placed

  • Aligns program or project delivery in accordance with the transition playbook and governance frameworks, adheres to all legal, regulatory, company governance, compliance and ethics frameworks, Group Level Documents, and standard organizational procedures

  • Socializes program or project reports with key internal and external stakeholders showing progress to plan, prioritization of efforts and status according to the originally approved parameters (i.e. schedule, cost, risks, issues etc.)

  • Accountable for the end-to-end management of the program or project ensuring that all areas are covered (i.e., integration, scope, time, cost | budget, quality, resources, communications, risk, procurement and stakeholders) throughout the program or project life cycle.  This include but are not limited to the following:

    • Working across multiple work streams, functions, internal and external stakeholders, vendors, partners and various ongoing initiatives to ensure that integration are happening so that any dependencies or impact to the program or project are addressed

    • Maintaining the veracity of the scope so that any changes that may impact it including cost, timeline and resources are managed through a change process duly approved by a change governance board or senior leadership team

    • Governs a robust change management and communication plan to minimize the impact a change can have on the company, business, function, employees, customers and other key stakeholders

    • Review and governs the business case or case for change that details the value proposition and evaluation of costs, quantitative and qualitative benefits and risks in undertaking the program or project to convince senior leadership to approve or take action.  In the course of the program or project, this will also include reviewing costs and expenses, adhering to the proposed business case and monitoring its value realization

    • Indirectly leading a team of mix resources at varying levels who are experts or advisors either on process, change, technology, talent and organization, data, facility or legal 

    • Identifying and mitigating risks, estimating impacts and developing actions or responses to prevent any negative effect on the program or project and the organization including possible reputational, regulatory, financial, operational, assurance and cyber risks

    • Identifying all the vital internal and external stakeholders at varying levels and developing appropriate strategies to effectively engage them throughout the program or project based on the analysis of their needs, interests and potential impact on the program or project as well as their business or function’s success

    • Managing the planning, organizing, coordinating, leading and controlling process of the program or project effectively and efficiently throughout its initiation, planning, execution and closure phases to achieve its set objectives and contribute to the overall safety, productivity and culture objectives of the company 

 

 About You

  • University Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or other related disciplines

  • Project Management Certification and other relevant professional certification is essential

  • Extensive experience of complex, large-scale Transition Program or Projects

  • Experience working in multiple work streams and partners | stakeholders 

  • Distinctive proficiency or demonstrated good working knowledge of Project management, Six Sigma, and Change Management

  • Good understanding of Strategy Formulation, Business Development, Capability Building, Assessment, Design, Implementation, and Transition Management

  • Demonstrated good working knowledge of MS Office (e.g., PowerPoint, Visio, Project) and good understanding of enterprise applications and emerging technologies
