About the Role

 

This role provides expert guidance in the governance and assurance of portfolios and projects, with a strong focus on identifying and mitigating risks throughout the project lifecycle. Operating in alignment with compliance standards and requirements, the role aims to deliver value, ensure safety, and optimise outcomes for BHP.


Key Accountabilities:

 

  • Evaluate and continuously refine optimal solutions, taking ownership of project decisions and outcomes while managing impacts across the project lifecycle, including social, environmental, and commercial factors.
  • Monitor and manage project performance to ensure delivery aligns with safety standards, budget constraints, and defined scope.
  • Apply risk management processes, conduct thorough risk assessments, adhere to compliance standards, and provide accurate risk reporting to enhance safety and value.
  • Facilitate the use of risk assessment tools and techniques to identify and analyse a broad spectrum of risks, challenge assumptions, and evaluate the effectiveness of risk controls.
  • Make informed decisions based on risk assessments, promote the use of BHP’s risk management framework, and foster a culture of risk awareness to support safe and productive outcomes.
  • Deliver impactful presentations and facilitate workshops using storytelling techniques to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Leverage a deep understanding of the business context, BHP’s Operating Model, and ways of working to support effective decision-making and enhance value chain performance.
  • Collaborate across the organisation to harness collective capabilities.
  • Commit to achieving 100% safety, 100% customer value, and 0% waste.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach, with a strong focus on meeting stakeholder needs.

About You

 

  • Demonstrated experience facilitating risk assessments using tools such as Bowtie, WRAC, and JSA.
  • Strong knowledge and practical application of risk management frameworks.
  • Proven ability to monitor and manage project performance across risk, budget, and scope.
  • Skilled in delivering workshops and presentations engaging with various levels of stakeholders.
  • Background in project risk, cost control, or broader project delivery.
  • Experience in systems such as Active Risk Manager (ARM), Primavera (P6), SafetyCulture, Governance Risk and Compliance (1SAP GRC) or similar risk systems.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to apply the BHP Operating Model to drive value throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ability to challenge assumptions, make risk-informed decisions, and cultivate a risk-aware culture.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to safety, customer value, and continuous improvement.
