We currently have vacancies for qualified and experienced Mechanical Fitters across our South Australian copper operations at Olympic Dam, Carrapateena and Prominent Hill.

 

Olympic Dam, located adjacent the township of Roxby Downs, is one of the world's largest integrated mining, smelting and processing operations. Carrapateena is a modern underground copper mine known for its innovation and strong focus on operational excellence. Prominent Hill is a well-established copper-gold operation recognised for its strong safety culture and high-performance teams.

Across our Copper SA operations, Mechanical Fitters play a critical role in maintaining safe, reliable and efficient plant performance.

 

Working within high-performing maintenance teams, you'll contribute to the ongoing operation of world-class mining and processing facilities while helping us deliver the copper essential to the global energy transition.

Opportunities are available across a range of fixed plant maintenance environments, supporting both planned and breakdown maintenance activities, equipment reliability initiatives and continuous improvement projects.

What You'll Bring to the Role

 

We're looking for safety-focused tradespeople who enjoy solving problems, working collaboratively and contributing to operational excellence.

 

You'll ideally bring:

  • Recognised Australian Mechanical Fitter trade qualification.
  • Experience working within mining, minerals processing, heavy industry, manufacturing or comparable industrial environments.
  • Strong commitment to safety, risk management and safe work practices.
  • Well-developed fault-finding, troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
  • Experience maintaining crushers, conveyors, pumps, processing plant equipment, mobile mining equipment or underground infrastructure.
  • Ability to work effectively within diverse and inclusive teams.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and equipment reliability.
  • Flexibility to work rostered shifts and site-based maintenance schedules.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on fixed plant equipment and infrastructure.
  • Conducting inspections, fault diagnosis and repairs to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Contributing to equipment reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining high standards of safety, housekeeping and compliance.
  • Collaborating with operations, planning and maintenance teams to achieve operational objectives.
  • Accurately recording maintenance activities and supporting maintenance planning processes.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.

 

Work Locations

 

Olympic Dam

  • Week-on, week-off 7/7 rotating day/night roster
  • Attractive residential allowances and company housing
  • Residential, DIDO or FIFO from Adelaide
  • Opportunities across both surface and underground operations

Carrapateena

  • 8/6, 7/7 rotating roster with occasional night shift
  • FIFO available from Adelaide or Port Augusta
  • Opportunities across both surface and underground operations

Prominent Hill

  • 8/6, 7/7 rotating roster with occasional night shift
  • FIFO available from Adelaide or Port Augusta
  • Opportunities across both surface and underground operations
