About the Role

 

As a Rail Controller, you will be based within our IPRO Rail Control taking ownership for the safety of our people in the field, achieving production targets, by enabling the effective operation of our rail network. Rail Control aims to be part of a culturally diverse team.

Reporting to the Supervisor Rail Control, your duties will be to focus on planning, coordination and implementation of mainline and yard movements. 


•    Working together as a team to ensure that the rail safety management plan is adhered to and daily train schedules met, which will result in an ongoing supply of iron ore from the Mines to the Ports 
•    Providing safe operations for track maintenance, signal and communication maintenance teams
•    The maximum utilisation of dispatched fleets through the consistent application of best-practice mine control tactics and strategies
•    Ensuring compliance to schedule and operating philosophies, driving a culture that conforms to company safety standards
•    Monitor performance of equipment and compliance with rail operating procedures
•    Continuous improvement of operating efficiency and realise cost benefits
•    Report any significant deviation from the daily operations plan to your direct supervisor
•    Cultivate positive relationships through effective communication and consultation
•    Ensure all incidents, breaches, near misses or hazards are reported to the Control Room Supervisor and conduct daily work area inspection
 
 

Lifestyle Roster


This position will work on our Lifestyle Roster, working a pattern of days and nights, with a block of days off at the end of each swing. 

Employees on this roster enjoy two full weekends off out of four and will align to the following shift rotation: 2D2N5X, 2D3N4X, 3D2N5X. Shifts are 12.5 hours including handover and you will benefit from additional shift allowances, as part of your remuneration package. As an added benefit, those on a Lifestyle Roster will also enjoy an additional week of annual leave per year.
 

 

About You

 

•    Previous Rail Control or Rail experience is preferred, particularly in a heavy haul railway environment.
•    Unwavering understanding of, and commitment to safety on our rail network.
•    High level of computer literacy.
•    High level analytical and problem-solving abilities.
•    Strong attention to detail and strict process discipline.
•    Ability to effectively manage priorities varying in complexity, in a fast-paced environment.
•    Excellent time management skills with accurate planning and scheduling experience.
•    Willingness to learn and ability to grasp new concepts in a timely manner.
•    Excellent communicator.
•    Ability to maintain objectivity and uphold confidentiality.
•    Commitment to identifying and raising improvements.
•    Collaborative and inclusive nature.


Location

 

Based in Perth, Western Australia, in the multi-award winning office tower - ‘City Square’ at Brookfield Place working a Lifestyle roster. You will have stunning river views from your modern open plan office, state of the art facilities including virtual whiteboards and video conferencing facilities, 550 bicycle racks with ample lockers, showers and change room amenities and a large outdoor terrace with barbecues.
