About the Role
We are currently seeking a Reliability Engineer to join the Operational Services (OS) Asset Management team, supporting Maintenance East deployments.This role will drive safety, productivity, and reliability improvements across a high-value fleet, including Mobile Trucks, Field Hydraulic Excavators, and Drills. Working closely with site-based execution, planning, and improvement teams, you’ll lead reliability improvement initiatives, support defect elimination, and build sustainable processes that improve equipment performance and lifecycle cost.
This role will be based onsite in the Bowen Basin on a 5/2 roster, with flexible work arrangements. You can elect to FIFO ex-Brisbane, DIDO or reside residentially.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead and support defect elimination activities and reliability improvement initiatives for Mobile & Field Hydraulic Equipment
- Provide technical insights and reliability recommendations to maintenance execution teams to address chronic and acute equipment issues.
- Analyse equipment performance data (e.g. MTBF, MTTR, UED) to identify top losses and target high-impact improvement opportunities.
- Participate in and coach frontline teams through problem-solving processes (5-Why, RCA), ensuring actions are high quality and sustainable.
- Collaborate with OEM partners, site stakeholders, and the central asset management function to implement product improvements and strategy updates.
- Build and sustain standardised reliability routines, including failure analysis reviews, forward log governance, and maintenance strategy effectiveness reviews.
- Champion the use of CMMS (e.g. SAP/1SAP), standardised work, and digital toolsets to deliver improvements and enable informed decision-making.
- Support execution teams with outage preparation, component life reviews, and material readiness for planned reliability tasks.
- Provide structured feedback into asset strategies to improve lifecycle cost and performance.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- You hold a relevant Engineering Degree or Trade qualification (or have similar qualifications and experience relevant to the role)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on equipment performance and maintenance improvement.
- Experience in mining equipment maintenance, with exposure to Mobile Trucks & Field Hydraulics.
- Familiarity with defect elimination and reliability principles, including use of problem-solving tools such as 5-Why and RCA.
- Proficiency in data analysis and performance reporting, ideally using systems such as SAP, PI, Power BI, or similar.
- An ability to collaborate effectively across teams, communicate technical detail clearly, and influence outcomes through data-driven insights.
- A continuous improvement mindset and a commitment to delivering sustainable value to the operation.
