About the Role

 

Reporting to the Superintendent Planning and Infrastructure, this role is responsible for executing strategic and technical mine planning work in the 2-8 year planning horizon for our Copper SA Underground Mines. The role provides guidance to a range of technical and operational stakeholders with a focus on medium-term mine planning and infrastructure required to support the asset strategy. Mine infrastructure includes ventilation, air, power, water, pastefill and their impacts on safety, production, cost and achievement of the mine plan and future growth at Copper SA. Your extensive industry experience will enable you to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide stakeholder group with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation.



This position is based at Adelaide on a 5:2 roster with occasional site travel to each of the operating mine sites, flexible work arrangements available.

In this role you will:

 

  • Model mine plans and requisite infrastructure demand over the 5 year mine plan to understand capital infrastructure project requirements
  • Justify capital spend using the projects framework whilst optimising for capital efficiencies
  • Education and coaching of personnel across technical and project teams to improve understanding of mine services systems
  • Support the integration and optimisation of Copper SA
  • Consultation in 5YP/LoA planning processes with attention to safety, schedule, reliability and costs
  • Focus on understanding and supporting mine long-term planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Leverage your expertise and industry connections to bring new technologies and ways of working to the business to improve safety and productivity
  • Provide technical support for significant mine planning projects, studies, and reviews across the sites.
  • Develop scopes of work to engage additional external stakeholders as required to support business needs
  • Project management of packages of work as required to support studies
  • Liaising between stakeholders to support a comprehensive integrated mine plan
  • Integration of associated planning and schedule software to support operations
  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development.

 

About You

 

  • Mining Engineering degree or similar
  • Experience in underground mine planning and operations across various mining methods and projects
  • Experience in mine or project scheduling is highly desirable
  • Experience in mine design software platforms (VentSim, Deswik, MS Office)
  • Ability to interpret limited measured / monitoring data, identify potential issues and causes of change, and develop processes to validate assumptions
  • Able to develop preferred and alternate mine infrastructure strategies, identify and escalate potential risks and mitigating actions
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to influence others, communicate complex concepts, and document clearly and concisely
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different work groups and proactively engage with a range of stakeholders including senior levels of management
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints will be advantageous
  • Previous experience delivering studies through to operations readiness and execution advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems with minimal direction
  • Strong ability to develop own work plan and adapt to change
