About the Role

 

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Production Engineering you will be an integral member of a diverse, dynamic and results driven team.  This is an exceptional pathway into operational leadership opportunities.

 

The team supports the Mine Production leadership team in delivering business priorities through a range of activities including production reporting, productivity benchmarking and improvement initiatives, budgeting, operational projects, operating standards and processes and risk management.

 

These roles allow for operational and technical knowledge to be combined and leadership capability to be developed through providing specialist advice to a range of stakeholders to develop and manage a portfolio of initiatives and projects to influence business decision making and continuous improvement.

 

This role is based at Olympic Dam on an 8 days on / 6 days off roster with FIFO ex-Adelaide, DIDO or residential options.

 

 

In this role you will:

  • Prepare inputs to form the production budget and provide forecast updates and budget analysis;
  • Compile reports & provide expertise to other teams in analysis of production performance indicators and metrics;
  • Identify and deliver improvement opportunities using the BHP Operating System practices;
  • Review and update operating standards and processes;
  • Liaise with operational Superintendents, Coordinators and Operators to implement improvement initiatives;
  • Provide feedback to the Planning & Technical teams to improve future execution plans, designs, schedules and forecasts;
  • Build and maintain close working relationship with other engineering functions and provide expertise when required; and
  • Mentor Engineers and Specialists in the team and support the Production Engineering Superintendent.

About You

 

Your success will be heavily influenced by your strong communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills, coupled with your ability to identify and raise issues, find solutions in complex situations, and decision-making abilities.

 

 

You will have:

 

  • Significant experience and a tertiary qualification in mining engineering or a closely related field.
  • Operational underground mining experience is desirable.
  • Financial experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • Thorough understanding of the mine production cycle.
  • Experience in managing and implementing improvement initiatives.
  • Leadership and mentorship experience developing team members.
