About the Role
Reporting to Superintendent Short-Term Scheduling, this role will see you contributing to the optimisation and implementation of planning and scheduling processes which support decision making and execution of the medium-term plan down to the weekly level. The Senior Scheduling Engineer will also play an instrumental role in the skills development of Scheduling Specialists and Engineers through coaching and mentorship.
This position will have substantial opportunity to lead scheduling improvement at Olympic Dam through the deployment of Deswik Ops across the Scheduling team. You will also be expected to collaborate internally and externally to leverage experience and knowledge across multiple work groups in order to drive continuous improvement, innovate, and seek better ways of doing things.
This position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on an 8/6 roster, with residential, DIDO or FIFO options available.
In this role you will:
- Be a safety leader, demonstrating an overriding commitment to positive health, safety and environment outcomes whilst delivering to productivity targets
- Lead the team in transitioning incrementally from the current 14 day planning horizon to a 2-3 month horizon, seeking to continuously improve on schedule delivery which will enable the medium term plan
- Coach the team to identify and manage risk to the mine plan through achieving 100% safety, 100% customer value, and 0% waste outcomes
- Provide input through planning processes at tactical time horizons
- Monitor execution of the week 0 schedule to drive compliance and maintain focus on critical path activities
- Build and maintain close working relationship with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders
- Conduct problem solving sessions with key stakeholders to determine underlying causes and evaluate solutions to address the root cause effectively
About You
- Mine Engineering degree or other closely related tertiary qualification
- Several years experience in the mining industry with experience in sub-level open stoping mining will be advantageous
- Demonstrated experience in a planning/scheduling role
- Ability to work in a high pressure and dynamic environment
- Ability to work collaboratively across different work groups to build and maintain strong working relationships across departments
- 12 months underground practical experience is favourable
- Experience with Deswik suite, SAP with Mining & ERP, and Microsoft Office software highly advantageous
