About the Role
The Carrapateena Team is accountable for delivering value at the Asset in the short, medium and long term, against the needs of all stakeholders. With an immediate and core focus on delivering production outcomes, they have a secondary focus on leading the expansion of the mine by transitioning from a Sub Level Cave (SLC) to a Block Cave (BC) – this will extend the Carrapateena mine life beyond 2040. As a Senior Engineer in Medium-Term Planning Team, you will be uniquely placed to experience many different facets of a growing SLC/BC mine. With it comes the responsibility and opportunity to have a significant impact on the safety, performance and culture of the operation.

Roster: 8:6 Dayshift FIFO ex Adelaide and Port Augusta
Term: Permanent Full Time
Reporting to the Superintendent – Mid Term Planning, the role will be responsible for:
- Delivery of the quarterly mine plans, budget, F-series and 13wk plans at Carrapateena. This will be achieved through close engagement with our wider Mining Technical & Technology team, Operations teams and our numerous mining contract partners.
- Critical path tracking towards BC to ensure dates are understood and socialised across site and variance to LOA dates are understood and mitigated where possible.
- Deliver quarterly and monthly mine plan compliance reports inclusive of P2P reconciliation, spatial compliance and success KPIs in a Plan>Do>Check>Act cycle.
- Internal BHP planning and reporting requirements for on cycle planning, budget generation and major project study support.
- Threat mitigation and problem solving to find better ways to execute the schedule including trade off studies
- Assisting with Cave Flow runs for the SLC using PGCA and runs for the BC using PCBC.
- Shutoff analysis and scenario work as well as footprint finder and owning the plan for the SLC in the <2 year time horizon.
- As Carrapateena enters a new phase of production ramp-up and operational readiness for the block cave, you will also be involved in the detailed mine planning of mass excavations, block cave footprint and associated infrastructure.
- Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to drive a quality mine plan.
About You
Ideally you will have:
- A commitment to developing safety leadership.
- At least 5 years experience in underground mining in either practical underground experience, mine scheduling, production, design, mine projects or equivalent.
- Experience in scheduling essential.
- Experience in cave flow preferred.
- Tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering.
- Ability to interact successfully with multiple internal stakeholders.
- Ability to work to multiple deadlines
- Deswik.CAD and Deswik.Sched experience essential.
