Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, as the Senior Reliability Engineer you will lead the Planning and Reliability team to support the sites maintenance function to achieve maintenance excellence. The role will provide new challenges and learnings in the reliability engineering field.


In this role you will:


  • Actively identify and implement safety improvements
  •  Measure, analyse and report on the underground mobile equipment fleet Availability, Mean Time Between Failure, Mean Time to Repair and Overall Equipment Effectiveness
  •  Analyse key reliability data to identify and implement improvement areas to constantly improve equipment reliability
  • Complete structured reviews of onsite stock holdings to determine correct stock levels, ensuring correct stock is on hand to ensure equipment availability is maximised.
  • Lead/participate in root cause analysis investigations on breakdowns to eliminate defects
  • Using SAP set up maintenance systems and perform analyses to develop, review and deploy maintenance strategies for new and current equipment to underpin plant reliability.
  • Develop and review work instructions in alignment with the maintenance strategy and requirements for maintenance tasks.
  •  Provide Maintenance Support, Technical Advice and Mentorship for Maintenance Technicians at floor level as well as the Maintenance Reliability and Planning team members in your own team.
  • Provide technical solutions to improvement ideas and business problems.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects and assist with establishing standardised work practices to eliminate waste and improve equipment availability


About You


Your passion for safety and commitment to your own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around you will be second to none.  You will also have the following:



  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Extensive experience with Mobile Equipment Maintenance reliability is advantageous
  • Working experience with reliability concepts and tools such as FMEA, RCA, or similar.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and complete scheduled tasks in a timely manner.Ability to build mutually beneficial relationships across functional teams
  • Well-developed communication and engagement skills with an interest in providing technical leadership, stewardship, support and solutions.
  • Ability to mentor and develop the capabilities of junior team members.


It will be highly regarded if you have experience with the following


  • Working experience with underground mobile equipment and mine dewatering systems.
  • Knowledge of SAP Master Data Management, Planning & Scheduling processes and stock level management.

Nickel West Cliffs is located approximately 450 kilometres north of Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.  Cliffs underground Nickel Mine is an integral part of Nickel West Leinster comprising of a nickel concentrator and dryer, located 12 kilometres south of Nickel West Mt Keith.
