About the Role

Carrapateena is a large-scale, world class modern mine operated by world class people. This exciting role is now available, and we are seeking out a dedicated and experienced Senior Technician in our Site Operations Centre to add value to our team.

 

Location: Carrapateena, South Australia (30-minute flight from Port Augusta / 60-minute flight from Adelaide)

Roster: 8 days, 6 days off, 7 nights, 7 nights off; we have flights daily to site from Adelaide or 3x per week from Port Augusta, and the best part is travel is 100% in company time.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Provide SOC Supervisor coverage as required.
  • Collaborate effectively with the SOC Technicians, Data Specialists and Engineering teams, ensuring quality of data is maintained to a high standard and system operation is optimised.
  • Responsible for checking and validating all captured data being used by Pitram in line with daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly requirements.
  • Assist with training and development of new team members in the SOC and UG environments.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects and implement new ideas that will benefit the business.
  • Assist with Emergency Management during an underground emergency/incident.
  • Remotely monitor, control and optimise equipment (fixed or mobile) to assist in the delivery of planned activities that meet or exceed daily targets for the underground mine.
  • Monitor, analyse and escalate critical system alarms to ensure safe operations and minimise operational impact.
  • Validate equipment performance and instrumentation on a regular basis.
  • Communicate any tasks that can be opportunely performed in the shadow of planned/unplanned downtimes.
  • Effectively capture data via two-way communications and enter information into the appropriate systems.
  • Efficient dispatch of underground fleet according to planned priorities
  • Assist in the management of an emergency/incident including activation of Emergency Response Team.
  • Remain open to multiskilling in other control functions of the Site Operations Centre and project/leadership roles that will help to drive the future capabilities of the SOC.

 

About You

  • Previous experience in a mine control room 
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of underground mining environments and the regulations and safety protocols of this setting
  • Highly developed level of computer literacy skills with Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated experience in fostering strong safety culture based on open and transparent communication with all operational stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and to work autonomously to achieve individual, team and organisational goals
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills, coupled with excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to make timely decisions and work calmly in a high-pressure environment
