About the Role
We are seeking motivated and professional team members to join our Security and Emergency Services (SEM) team within Northern Operations (Port & Rail).
Reporting to the Northern Operations Security Supervisors and SEM Superintendent, this role provides an opportunity to develop experience in site access control and security operations, with ongoing career pathways across Health, Safety, Environment and Emergency Management (HSE/SEM).
The Western Australian Iron Ore SEM team delivers critical security and emergency services across complex operational environments. We value diversity, professionalism, and individual contributions.
Our Site Access teams support safe operations by managing access control, monitoring compliance, and providing security and emergency response communications across Port and Rail assets.
We are seeking Site Access Officers to support our port and rail operations. As a BHP employee, you play a key role in the safe and efficient execution of site access, security, and emergency response activities across Northern Operations.
More specifically, you will:
- Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, values, and Code of Conduct.
- Manage and maintain BHP Iron Ore access control systems and associated equipment, reporting deficiencies as required.
- Conduct drug and alcohol testing in line with approved BHP procedures.
- Support emergency response communications in coordination with Emergency Services teams.
- Conduct security inspections and related site security functions.
- Receive and triage internal and external emergency and operational calls.
- Maintain compliance systems related to site access, fit-for-work, fatigue management, alcohol and drug monitoring, and security preparedness.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong safety mindset, professionalism, and clear communication skills. You will also have
- Experience following and applying standard work instructions and procedures.
- Knowledge and experience maintaining confidentiality in relation to all security incidents and emergencies, including incident, security and medical details.
- Sound knowledge and competence in Microsoft applications and general IT systems, with the ability to navigate multiple systems concurrently, maintain accurate digital records, and utilise technology to support operational decision-making.
- Previous experience in site access, control room, security, or emergency response roles is advantageous but not essential.
Location and Roster
This is a permanent position based within Northern Operations (Port & Rail).
The role operates on an 8:6 / 7:7 rotating day and night roster, FIFO from Perth.
