The challenged Ahead

 

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Specialist Benchmarking & Analysis to bring specialised knowledge and support project teams in delivering successful and value-accretive projects. 
A strategic role focused on enhancing BHP’s benchmarking and estimating practices, driving the development of robust frameworks, advanced technical analysis, and standardised processes to ensure consistent, enterprise-wide adherence to best-in-class standards.
A critical role in advancing a culture of care across regional teams, providing expert support in technical estimation analysis, driving benchmarking collaboration across Minerals Americas and Australia, and strengthening capabilities to deliver estimation workshops effectively while enabling seamless cross‑regional engagement.


Key Accountabilities:


•    Lead and continuously improve benchmarking and estimating practices, ensuring alignment with best-in-class standards. 
•    Deliver high-quality technical estimation analysis to support project evaluation and decision-making. 
•    Manage and facilitate benchmarking activities across regions (e.g., Minerals Americas and Minerals Australia). 
•    Develop, maintain, and standardize frameworks, methodologies, and tools for benchmarking and estimating. 
•    Enable consistency, accuracy, and transparency in cost estimation and performance metrics. 
•    Support project teams through data-driven insights to enhance value delivery and project outcomes. 
•    Build and strengthen capability within teams through workshops, training, and knowledge sharing. 
•    Foster strong cross-regional collaboration and stakeholder engagement. 
•    Promote and embed a culture of care, safety, and continuous improvement. 
•    Ensure compliance with internal standards, governance requirements, and industry best practices.

What we expect from you

 

Required:

 

•    5+ years of experience similar roles within the mining, natural resource or projects industry, demonstrating industry knowledge.
•    Bachelor’s degree in Business (Finance or Accounting), Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
•    Proven experience in cost estimation, benchmarking, and project analysis, preferably in mining, energy, or large-scale infrastructure.
•    Strong understanding of project lifecycles, cost drivers, and value optimization.
•    Advanced analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into actionable outcomes.
•    Proficiency in benchmarking methodologies, estimating tools, and data visualization platforms.
•    Ability to develop frameworks, standards, and processes that drive consistency and continuous improvement.
•    Strong business acumen with a focus on value creation and performance optimisation.
•    Demonstrated ability to engage and influence stakeholders across regions and functions.
•    Experience working in cross-regional or global teams, fostering collaboration and alignment.
•    Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
•    Strong facilitation skills for workshops and knowledge-sharing sessions (English & Spanish Fully).
•    Commitment to promoting a culture of care, safety, and inclusion.
