About the Role

 

As a Specialist Civil TRS you will contribute to managing all aspects of the Tailings Retention System and contributing to the advisory, design and evaluation of the civil installation and earthworks at BHP Olympic Dam.  You will be a key support to the Production Execution Team and support them  by viewing and reporting on critical data to ensure compliance to the Tailings Management Plan and legislative requirements.

This position is based at Olympic Dam on a roster of 5/2, 4/3, with FIFO ex-Adelaide or residential options at Roxby Downs.

In this role you will:

 

  • Source information, plans and gather, analyse and report on Wall Raise QA/QC
  • Manage all TRS databases and provide data to internal and external parties as required for auditing purposes
  • Conduct regular inspections of wall raise activities to ensure compliance to site specifications
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
  • Manage the wall raise schedule to maintain sufficient capacity within the Tailings Storage Facilities (TSF)
  • Develop the weekly tailings deposition plan
  • Undertake surveys of tailings and liquor levels to ensure compliance to the TRS Critical Operating Parameters (COPs)
  • Work with the Surface Production A&I team to ensure slurry density and Evaporation Pond Return Liquor (EPRL) requirements are met
  • Update critical documentation including the Tailings Management Plan and Operations, Maintenance & Surveillance Manual

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or an aligned discipline are preferred for this role which would be supported by experience in the mining industry ideally. 
  • Any exposure to tailings or dams would be well regarded.
  • You are able to establish credibility through your strong technical ability, leadership and excellent communication skills.
  • Your strong stakeholder engagement skills will foster collaborative working relationships across our teams.
  • You will have the skills and knowledge to provide critical thinking and a solution-focused attitude along with demonstrated leadership capability.
  • You continuously thrive for continuous improvement and will contribute to the identification, development and implementation of improvement opportunities.
