About the Role
Reporting through to the Superintendent Asset Sustainability, this role provides technical expertise in the strategic management and engineering of environment related issues, provisions and initiatives across Copper SA .
This role is based in Adelaide on a Monday – Friday basis, with flexibility. Occasional site travel will be required.
In this role you will:
- Coordinate and manage Copper SA's NGER and NPI reporting requirements, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant submissions.
- Collaborate with operational, technical and functional teams to collect, validate and analyse greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption and pollutant reporting data.
- Maintain and improve emissions reporting processes, controls and documentation to enhance data quality, transparency and compliance.
- Develop and manage reporting schedules, data collection frameworks and assurance plans to support regulatory and corporate reporting obligations.
- Support internal audits, external assurance reviews and regulatory interactions, including the coordination and closure of findings and improvement actions.
- Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise on greenhouse gas accounting methodologies, emissions estimation techniques and reporting requirements.
- Analyse emissions and energy data to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities, supporting operational performance and decarbonisation initiatives.
- Build capability across site and functional teams through training, mentoring and support on emissions reporting processes and requirements.
- Monitor changes in climate-related legislation, reporting frameworks, industry standards and best practices, assessing impacts and recommending improvements.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure reporting obligations are met and issues are resolved effectively and efficiently.
- Conduct site visits to support data verification activities, improve reporting processes and strengthen engagement with operational teams.
- Identify and assess risks, make risk-informed decisions, apply BHP's risk management framework and contribute to a risk-aware culture supporting safe and productive outcomes.
About You
- Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, Climate Change, Chemical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Accounting, Data Analytics or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in greenhouse gas, energy, environmental or sustainability reporting within a complex industrial environment.
- Strong understanding of Australian climate reporting frameworks, including NGER, NPI and relevant greenhouse gas accounting methodologies.
- Experience coordinating regulatory reporting processes, including data collection, validation, quality assurance and documentation.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within defined reporting deadlines.
- Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail and a strong focus on data accuracy and governance.
- Experience supporting internal audits, external assurance activities and compliance reviews.
- Experience developing and improving reporting processes, systems and controls.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex technical datasets and communicate insights clearly.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience working with reporting, data management or enterprise systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel to operational sites to support reporting, assurance and continuous improvement activities.
Preferred
- Experience within the mining, processing, energy or resources sector.
- Familiarity with climate-related disclosures, decarbonisation programs, carbon accounting systems and sustainability reporting frameworks.
- Experience working within ISO 14001 certified management systems.
