- Expertise in designing and managing enterprise networks across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of routing, switching, segmentation, firewalls, and secure connectivity.
- Understanding of securing traditional IT setups and modern cloud technologies (Kubernetes, containers).
- Familiarity with SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS models and integrating AI services securely.
- Experience embedding security controls into platform tools and automation processes.
- Skilled in technical risk assessments and recommending practical improvements.
- Ability to prepare IT systems for investigations and recovery from incidents.
- Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Cybersecurity related certifications like CISSP, or any cloud or infrastructure security certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field.
About the Role
Technology is a global function within BHP that builds and maintains Reliable, Impactful, Safe and Efficient technology. Cybersecurity is a key part of this team that manages BHP’s internal and external attack surface, safeguarding our people, data, and business operations against evolving threats.
The Specialist Cybersecurity – Cloud and Infrastructure position focuses on designing, implementing, and operating secure cloud and infrastructure platforms across IT and OT environments. The role ensures security measures are embedded into infrastructure and platform services and remain effective throughout their lifecycle.
In this role, your key accountabilities will include:
- Establish and maintain secure configurations and standards for systems and cloud services in line with industry and company requirements.
- Ensure technology generates appropriate logs and data for security monitoring.
- Identify and prioritize security vulnerabilities, addressing critical risks promptly.
- Validate security fixes and advocate for sustainable solutions.
- Provide security assessments during new projects, system designs, and technology changes.
- Offer practical security advice aligned with risk levels and organizational goals.
- Support incident response planning and exercises.
- Advise on secure network design, segmentation, and connectivity requirements.
- Collaborate with project teams to review designs, identify risks, and recommend mitigations.
- Work with Network Teams to monitor operational risks and implement security controls.
- Maintain clear documentation of secure configurations and security controls.
- Develop and update technical guidelines for infrastructure teams.
- Stay current with emerging threats and best practices for cloud and infrastructure security.
