Copper South Australia (CuSA) Major Projects encompass a portfolio of strategic developments across multiple sites in South Australia, contributing to BHP’s copper growth strategy. These projects involve complex infrastructure and processing systems, requiring integrated planning and execution across engineering, construction, and commissioning phases.

 

 

 

 

About the Role

 

The Specialist Commissioning role is a key part of the CuSA Major Projects execution team. You will contribute to the development and implementation of commissioning strategies and plans across a diverse portfolio of copper projects. Your technical expertise will support the safe and timely testing and turnover of new infrastructure in alignment with project objectives.

 

Location and Roster

 

This role will be based in Olympic Dam on a initially on a 4/3 roster for approximately 4 months, transitioning to a 7/7 roster for 12 months on a fly-in fly-out (FIFO) basis

 

 

Reporting to the Lead Commissioning, your accountabilities will include:

 

 

  • Providing commissioning planning expertise and coordinating commissioning resources to safely and effectively execute activities on assigned projects.
  • Maintaining an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental, and community responsibility throughout commissioning activities.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of project documentation, functional processes, methodologies, and systems.
  • Ensuring commissioning standards and systems are diligently applied across CuSA Major Projects.
  • Managing equipment turnover processes from construction contractors to operations stakeholders.
  • Preparing regular reporting and presentation materials for project and leadership teams.

 

About You

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

 

 

  • Demonstrated field-based commissioning experience.
  • A tertiary qualification in engineering or a trade qualification with relevant project delivery experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills: proactive, credible, and influential, with the ability to build strong working relationships across diverse teams.
  • Technical proficiency across a broad range of engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with construction and commissioning completions systems.
  • Understanding of contracts, procurement practices, and vendor/contractor management.
  • A performance and achievement-oriented mindset, complemented by strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
